ALWAYS Praise your dog every time he does something right - even if you have had to help him to do it. Always let your dog know when he has done something right Be pleasant when calling your dog to you. Make your dog want to come to you and always, always praise your dog when he comes back to you Talk to your dog when you want his attention on you and not on the dog or the person next to you Keep your dog on a lead at all times when walking on roads, however well trained you may think he is. Unthinking owners cause accidents. Have confidence in your dog. If you do your dog will have confidence in you and respect for you. Think positive - you know your dog can go the exercises - help him do them right. Practice heelwork every time you take your dog out even if it is only to the shops. |
NEVER Never train your dog if you are feeling out of sorts. You cannot be fair to your dog if you are not in a pleasant frame of mind. Call your dog to you if your intention is to chastise him. No self respecting dog will willingly keep coming back to you to be punished. Slap or strike your dog when correcting him. Always use your voice and your lead. Wear unsuitable clothing when training your dog. You cannot expect a dog to walk to heel if coats, belts, skirts are flapping in his face. Blame your dog for your mistakes. If your dog has done an exercise wrong it is usually your fault! Feed your dog before coming to training classes as this may cause your dog to be sick or need the toilet if he gets excited.

REMEMBER
Obedient dogs don't just happen. They are trained that way and it may take weeks of work and practice, each dog is only as goods as you want him to be.
REMEMBER
That if you praise and encourage your dog not only during training sessions, but also when training at home you will soon see that your dog is willing to please you.
